Local SEO

Are you looking to increase your organic listings for customers shopping in your local area? Local search techniques focus on granular searches – helping your business build brand awareness for localised, regional searches.

There are five key components to optimising for local search. Find out more about them, here:

#1 Relevant, Local Content
Optimising your content for local searches is an essential part of being found online. Creating localised content is all about being found in your region. A generic title, such as ‘Digital Marketing Services” can be localised by turning it into ‘Digital Marketing Services in Cornwall’.

Content on your page should reflect the area you’re targeting. If you’re struggling to think of unique local content ideas then think about any topical issues you could write on. Are there local attractions or events taking place? Can your brand capitalise on any local news stories? Have particular issues affected your region? Can you answer questions on a local topic, such as ‘where is the best place visit in your region?’

#2 A Highly-Optimised GMB Profile
Your Google My Business card is an essential component to appear in local Google searches and map SERPs. Make sure your profile is filled out with informative details, such as your business description, services, location, opening times, latest offers and more.

#3 Local Links
Link-building amongst local publications is a great way to improve your regional visibility. Can your create local business news stories which will generate media coverage? Are there any local events you can sponsor, or guest posts that you could write. Can you become a guest speaker for local events to gain coverage online? Make sure your business is featured in local directories too to ensure full coverage.

#4 Customer Reviews
Google Reviews are an important part of signalling to Google, so it’s integral that you make acquiring rich reviews are a core focus of your local SEO strategy. Make it as easy as possible, and encouraged, for users to fill out reviews. You can include the feature on follow-up emails, or ask on Social Media.

#5 Clear Listings
Make sure you’re giving out clear, concise information to Google. Use the same address and business name and details on the internet and make sure it’s presented in the important places – on your website, Google My Business profile and on local directories.
