Facebook adds camera features that rival Snapchat

Facebook has rolled out a variety of new camera features as they continue to step on the toes of Snapchat.

Facebook now allow is customers to add effects to images they are uploading, as well as send photos and videos to friends that will disappear after several seconds. Facebook has also announced it is partnering with brands to create stickers – very similar to Snapchats filters. Facebook too will be ing engaging filters to help their customers engage with the platform further.

The second new tool Facebook is introducing is stories, that will sit at the top of the news feed to let users share a slideshow of videos and pictures with their friends, similar to Snapchat and Instagram.

“Our goal is for the camera to be a home to hundreds of dynamic and fun effects that give you new ways to connect with friends, family, and your community,” said Facebook product manger Connor Hayes in a blog post.

Facebook appears to look to Snapchat for inspiration on new features and ideas, leading to Facebook introducing several new features over the past 12 months as well as new features on sister apps Instagram and WhatsApp to stave off competition from its challenger.
